Roof replacement in Worcester County and MetroWest.
Replace a worn roof with a complete system, a clear scope and a process that accounts for your home from deck to cleanup.

A complete roof system, carefully sequenced.
Roofing by Gamache installs residential roofing systems for homeowners in Northborough and the surrounding Worcester County and MetroWest communities. The team is GAF Certified and installs architectural asphalt shingles with the underlying components the roof needs. Our team meets you at the house, handles the inspection and estimate, checks the job while work is underway and inspects the finished roof. Each replacement follows a nine-step process, including property protection before tear-off, exposed-deck inspection and final cleanup. Most roof replacements take 1 to 3 days, depending on size, complexity, materials and weather. Roofing by Gamache offers a workmanship warranty, separate from the applicable GAF manufacturer warranty. Product eligibility, exclusions, registration and other terms depend on the selected roof and warranty. Review both sets of terms with your estimate. Explore our free inspection service.
When is replacement the better next step?
Wear across the roof
Widespread shingle damage or deterioration asks a different question from a single isolated problem: how much serviceable roof remains?
Repeated water problems
Leaks in several areas or recurring repairs may point to broader issues. Flashing, roof transitions and the condition below the shingles need attention.
An aging system
Roof age helps frame the inspection, but age alone does not tell the whole story. Materials, installation, exposure and current condition matter too.
Repair or replacement starts with the inspection.
A small leak does not automatically mean you need a new roof. We look at the cause and the condition around it before discussing the options. If a focused repair is appropriate, you can review roof repair options. If replacement makes more sense, the estimate should explain the work and the roof system being proposed.
Tell us about previous leaks, ice dams, repair work and any attic moisture you have noticed. These details help frame the inspection and the questions that the proposal needs to answer.
Your roof replacement, step by step.
- 01
Free inspection and consultation
We look at the current roof, identify concerns, discuss material options and provide a clear estimate.
- 02
Permits and preparation
We handle the necessary permits and prepare for the job, including access, deliveries and the work area.
- 03
Property protection
Before tear-off, we take precautions to protect landscaping, the driveway, siding and the area around the home.
- 04
Roof tear-off
Old shingles, underlayment and worn roofing materials are removed so the roof deck can be inspected.
- 05
Deck inspection and repairs
We check the exposed deck for rot, moisture damage and compromised areas. Necessary decking repairs come before the new roof covering.
- 06
Underlayment and ice protection
Underlayment and ice-and-water protection add a layer beneath the shingles, including vulnerable roof areas such as eaves, valleys and penetrations.
- 07
Flashing, drip edge and ventilation
We address the flashing, roof edges and ventilation components included in the scope. These details help manage water and support attic airflow.
- 08
Shingle installation
Architectural shingles are installed using the fastening and installation methods required for the selected roofing system.
- 09
Final cleanup and inspection
We remove project debris, inspect the finished roof and complete a final walkthrough.
Look closely at the parts you will not see.
The deck underneath
Removing the old roof exposes the surface that supports the new system. Rotted or compromised decking needs attention before it is covered again. Discuss how additional deck repairs will be priced and approved if damage becomes visible during tear-off.
Water at the edges and intersections
Eaves, valleys, chimneys and roof-to-wall connections need coordinated underlayment, flashing and edge details. Replacing shingles without addressing those connections can leave a problem unresolved.
Ventilation and the attic
Roof and attic conditions belong in the conversation. Ventilation components need to work together, and an insulation or air-leakage concern may need a separate assessment. A new roof alone is not a promise that an ice-dam problem will disappear.

Choose the color in the context of your home.
Use the GAF Timberline HDZ guide to compare shingle colors, then review physical samples against your siding, trim and masonry.
What does the warranty cover?
Roofing by Gamache offers a workmanship warranty, separate from the applicable GAF manufacturer warranty. Product eligibility, exclusions, registration and other terms depend on the selected roof and warranty. Review both sets of terms with your estimate.
GAF Certified status can make certain enhanced manufacturer options available for qualifying installations. It does not make every warranty automatic. For example, GAF System Plus addresses manufacturing defects and does not provide GAF coverage for installation misapplication. Ask which warranty applies to the products and installation in your proposal.

How much will a replacement cost?
The roof area, pitch, shape, materials, existing layers, decking condition and access all affect the scope. A project-specific estimate is more useful than a price based only on your home’s floor area. Our Massachusetts roof cost guide explains what to compare.
Will you replace damaged decking?
The deck is inspected after tear-off. Damaged or compromised areas can be replaced before the new roofing is installed. Ask how the estimate handles repairs that cannot be fully measured before removal.
Who handles the permits?
Roofing by Gamache handles the necessary permits. Tell us if the property is in a local historic district so any additional review can be identified before materials and scheduling are finalized.
Can I finance a replacement?
Financing is available through Enhancify. Review current options, lender terms and eligibility directly through our financing page.
Do you serve my town?
